    If you consider studying in Australia as an international student, you would have to obtain a Student sisa.

    A Student visa is a temporary visa which allows you to come to Australia for specified period to study at Australian educational institution. 

    Under the new simplified student visa framework the level of documentary evidence required in relation to financial and English language capacity is determined by the combined immigration risk of the prospective student’s education provider and country of citizenship.

Student Visa Subclass 500

The Visa Requirements:

  • You must be enrolled or have an offer from a CRICOS provider 
  • You must hold Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), or fall in one of the exemption categories
  • Must be 6 years or older
  • You must prove you have a welfare arrangement, if you are under 18
  • If in Australia you must hold an eligible substantive visa
  • You must be a genuine student and meet Genuine Student Requirement
  • You must meet English Language Requirements for Student Visa
  • You must have enough money to support yourself and your family in Australia. See: Financial Capacity for Student Visa
  • You must not have visa cancelled or refused. Cancellation of a visa might trigger a 3 year ban from applying for certain visas. If you are in Australia and your visa application has been refused, you are not eligible to apply for a Student visa while in Australia.
  • You must meet health and character requirements.

To apply for this visa you can be in or outside Australia. You can include members of family unit in your application.

 

Student Guardian Visa Subclass 590

The Visa Requirements:

  • You must be the student’s parent, custodian or relative 
  • You must be 21 years or older
  • You must be able to provide accommodation, welfare and other support to the student
  • You must hold adequate health Insurance for this visa
  • If in Australia you must hold an eligible substantive visa
  • You must be a genuine student and meet Genuine Student Requirement
  • You must have enough money to support yourself and your family in Australia. See: Financial Capacity for Student Visa
  • You must not have visa cancelled or refused. Cancellation of a visa might trigger a 3 year ban from applying for certain visas. If you are in Australia and your visa application has been refused, you are not eligible to apply for a Student Visa while in Australia.

To apply for this visa you can be in or outside Australia. 

If any member of your family unit has not turned 6, you cannot be granted the visa unless:

  • there are compelling and compassionate reasons or
  • granting the visa would significantly benefit the relationship between the Australian Government and the government of another country, you are 21 and if the student visa holder has not turned 18, the nomination is supported by a parent or someone with custody of the student .
